original article [Mon 12th Sep, 2022 18:05 BST]: It’s happening friends, it’s finally happening! After keeping us in the dark for months (bar some rumors which had convinced us of its veracity), Nintendo announced today that it will host a Direct showcase tomorrow (September 13) at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.

Thanks to giant bomb word journalist and all-around rumor machine Jeff Grubb, we’ve been led to believe there’s going to be plenty of Zelda content for us with this one. It seems likely we’ll hear about Switch ports for one or both The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Twilight PrincessAnd could tomorrow finally be the day we can hear Something more about Breath of the Wild 2? Just give us at least one Nintendo title, please!

It is also said that tomorrow’s Direct could see the revelation that Metroid Prime is coming to the Switch, with rumors that this particular port seems to have been around since the beginning of time.

But what else will we see? Will there be news of Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp? Could we hear about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Downloadable content? Will we know more about an upcoming Mario game, Odyssey 2 or something else? Is there even more Any Zelda news we might have missed?

Some of our wonderful writers here at Nintendo Life have shared their predictions for what might appear in the Direct below. But don’t just take our word for it, we want to hear from you too! Fill out the poll at the bottom of this article, then jump to the comments to tell us what excites you!

Let the predictions begin!

Oh, how I would love to go against my predictions and say that I honestly believe this Direct will see something big and unexpected come out of the Switch. The thing is, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about the most likely scenarios.

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess side ports, I am really hoping for some Breath of the Wild 2 new. With Splatoon 3 released and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the horizon, Nintendo needs to give us more information on their next big title, and why wouldn’t it be the one I’m most excited about? I think a full release date is still unlikely, but a new trailer and official title to have to be on the cards, right?

It’s for the same reason that I expect news the next day Mario Odyssey-like game. My personal infatuation with the 3D version aside, Odyssey was a massive title for the Switch and with Super Mario 3D All-Stars nowhere near scratching that itch, Big-N would do well to keep our love for the plumber well. terms before the dreaded movie drops…

With the rumor mill churning out all the usual suspects (which – don’t get me wrong – I’d love to see materialize), there are a few lower-tier titles that would make my day if they came up. Grezzo has been awfully quiet for the past two years, and after watching the 30th anniversary of The frog for whom the bell tolls (the Game Boy title only in Japan, Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naruwho served as a model for Link’s Awakening), I want to like to see a remake of this on Switch in the same cute style.

The arrival of Game Boy titles on Nintendo Switch Online has been rumored for some time and could make sense as a way to bolster the core offering. Having returned to Wave Race 64 recently it rekindled my excitement for a new entry in this series, or ExcitebikeWhere 1080or (whisper) F-zero. Or rhythm heaven. It’s time for more Rhythm Heaven!

And beyond the first part, there was this rumor that Rocksteady’s Arkham Collection was coming to Switch. I could get behind that.

Alana Hagues, Writer

I always love going into a Nintendo Direct with low expectations lest I be disappointed, but I admit it, my heart needs more Hollow Knight: Silksong in my life. If we’re feeling bolder, how about a release date? I’m going to be disappointed, aren’t I?

Anyway, for some things that seem more realistic: it’s been a while since we’ve heard of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake. I will continue to talk about it on each of these posts until we have a new trailer or Something. And, sticking with the RPGs, I think we could take a look at the first Season Pass update for Xenoblade Chronicle 3. It’s for winter, after all!

Really, though, Directs is where I get most excited for things I never would have predicted. I love surprises, so as much as I’d love to see the Metroid Prime remake come to fruition (and I’m going to drop some cash on it so fast, having never played it on GameCube or Wii), a brand new title or wearing a hidden, hard-to-find gem would be a blast. Show us what you got, Nintendo.

Ollie Reynolds, personal editor

Like most Nintendo Directs, I feel like I could throw out a whole bunch of predictions and then nothing of them turn out to be true. Isn’t that so? That said, rumors surrounding potential ports of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime are then widespread at the moment, I kinda feel like I’m there has be something there, right?

If not, I would love to see some sort of update on Metroid Prime 4; maybe just a little teaser? Something to tell me that it is still under construction and on the way. I’d also love to see the Switch get some delicious horror games in the coming months, because it feels like the other platforms are getting all the good horror games right now (hi, Resident Evil 4 Remake). For a rather niche final prediction/wish, it would be absolutely amazing if developer ZA/UM came up with some sort of sequel to Disco Elysee… We can only hope.

As for this winter – which is apparently what the Direct will mainly focus on – I’m fine, you know? I don’t want to see a lot of games like Bayonet 3, Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hopeand sound borders. certainly nothing on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Thanks a lot. I know at this point if I’m going to get them or not, so another trailer isn’t going to change my mind.

Are you excited for the Direct? Are there any titles we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
