Britney Spears’ mother Lynne Spears has responded to the pop star’s latest set of claims regarding her infamous guardianship.
Britney’s life and finances were tightly controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, and a group of lawyers under the binding legal arrangement, which was in place from 2008 until November 2021.
The singer testified publicly that under guardianship she was forced to have an IUD in order to prevent her from having more children and was not allowed to marry, among other demands. She also said she had received no support from her family during this time and wanted Jamie to be punished and jailed for his “abuse”.
Since the conservatorship was terminated in court following the fierce battle, Britney has increasingly spoken out about her incredibly strained relationship with her parents and sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, often sharing and deleting Instagram and Twitter posts. calling them.
But on Sunday, the pop star took it a step further and posted a shocking 22 minute video on his YouTube page detailing many of his struggles over the past 13 years.
And in the video, which was deleted shortly after it was posted, Britney shares more details about what she endured under guardianship, drawing particular attention to her mother Lynne, who she says “has everything make it happen”.
“A woman launched the idea [of the conservatorship] to my dad, and my mom actually helped him follow through and make it all happen,” Britney says in the video. “The [were] no drugs in my system, no alcohol, nothing – it was pure abuse.
“The main thing I remember when I started was controlling my dad. He liked to control everything I did. I remember the first day he said, “I’m Britney Spears and it’s up to me,” and I was like, “Okay, then,” she recalled.
“I think when my mom gave him the idea for guardianship and his friend, I think he really liked having it put together and making it a big redesign issue and that was just too much,” she continues. . “All I remember is that I had to do what I was told. … They made me feel like nothing. And I accepted because I was scared and scared.
Now shedding light on what really happened at the time, Britney claims in the video that she was hastily ‘fired’ after ‘saying’ no ‘to a dance’ during rehearsals for the tour.
“I went to a rehearsal and said ‘No’ to a dance, and it was like, ‘No, can we do this? I want to do this,'” she recalled. “And then I just remember that it all got really weird and quiet and all the directors and producers went into the back room and just talked. And that was it. And I was like, Good, i don’t know what’s going on.”
“The next day, I was told that I [had] being sent back to an institution and that I was supposed to say on my Instagram that the reason is that my father is sick and I need treatment which has been [not true]I never wanted to go,” she says.
“I remember my dad calling me on the phone and I was crying. And I was like, ‘Why are you doing this? Like what?’ And I just remember he said, ‘It’s… You have to listen to the doctors, the doctors are going to tell you what to do, I can’t help you now,’” she continues.
“And I remember his last words were, ‘Now you don’t have to go. But if you don’t go, we’re going to go to court, and there’s going to be a big trial, and you’re going to lose. I have many more people by my side than you. You don’t even have a lawyer,” Britney says.
“So I did, I went there, I was scared to death,” she said. “And none of that made sense yet about what they were doing to me. And again, I didn’t want to share this because it’s incredibly offensive, sad, abusive. And honestly, is- would anyone believe me?
“I was a fucking machine. Not even human, almost. It was crazy how hard I worked. And the one time I spoke and said no to rehearsals, to a fucking dance move, they got pissed off,” she says of her family.
Britney adds that even though she felt completely “helpless” at the facility, her family would have been in Destin, Florida relaxing with her. million dollar condo.
“I remember the main thing about when I was in that place was that my heart felt like it was frozen, like it was stuck inside. I wanted to scream and I wanted to get out,” she said. “I felt like I was in shock, almost like when an elderly person feels helpless.”
“Sitting, drawing six blood galls each week,” she said. “Weak as hell. And then my family is in Destin at my beach house. It didn’t make sense.
“I was so, so weak and my family is in my beach house,” she says. “I’m sharing this because I want people to know I’m only human. I feel victimized after these experiences and how can I fix this if I don’t talk about it?”
Continuing to discuss how Jamie “had to leave [her] go” when the #FreeBritney campaign gained immense traction, Britney clarified that she was “angry” at her mother for not stepping in sooner to end the conservatorship.
“The only thing that really confused me was that these people were fighting for me on the street, but my sister and my mother weren’t doing anything. It was like they secretly and honestly liked me being the bad one, like I was screwed up… Otherwise, why weren’t they outside my door saying, “Little girl, get in the car, shall we go?” she asks.
“I couldn’t understand how my family accepted it for so long, and their only response was, ‘We didn’t know. I’m like, ‘I’m on the phone to tell you right now. I am here. Please,” she said, adding that she felt like her family had “dumped” her.
Britney continues: “Honestly, I’m more angry with my mother because I heard that journalists were calling her at the time and asking her questions about what was going on. She would go innocently, hide innocently in the house and she wouldn’t talk. It was always like ‘I don’t know what to say. I don’t mean the wrong thing. We pray for her.'”
“I feel like she could have found me a lawyer in seconds. My friend helped me get one in the end. But every time I contacted a company my phone was tapped and they were taking my phone away from me,” Britney explains in the video.
Shortly after Britney’s now-deleted video gained popularity online, her mother, Lynne, hit back at the claims with a post shared on her Instagram page.
Sharing a photo of herself and Britney on the platform, Lynne – whose comments are disabled – wrote that she had done her “best” to help the singer “out of trouble” throughout her life.
“Britney, all your life I’ve done my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I tried my best to help you out of the difficulties! she began.
“I have never turned my back on you and will never turn my back on you!” Your rejections to the countless times I’ve flown and called make me feel hopeless! she continued, before claiming that she had “tried everything”.
” I have tried everything. I love you so much, but this conversation is for you and me only, eye to eye, in private,” Lynne concluded.
Britney has yet to respond to Lynne’s message, but we’ll be sure to update you if she does.
