intel arc control is the newly released monitoring software for ARC Alchemist and Xe Iris GPUs. Highlights of the new software include a Performance tab that allows for GPU monitoring and overclocking features, among other features. While Intel’s ARC Control video presentationthe specs pointing to an unknown discrete desktop GPU may have been leaked, as reported by 3DCenter.
Intel could have possibly announced the specifications of the Arc A780 D discrete desktop graphics card in the Arc Control Panel presentation with up to 2250 MHz clock and 175 watt TDP
Throughout the presentation, Intel is displaying some of the data that the ARC Control software is capable of, such as core and memory frequency and GPU performance, displayed through a software-enabled overlay while games are being played on the system will. While the company is clipping back and forth on screen, the specs don’t sync up with the laptop ARC GPUs announced a few days ago.
In the video, the GPU clock could reach 2200-2250 MHz when the device is fully loaded. It is speculated that this new information is the boost clock of the Flagship ACM-G10 GPU core that has not yet been released
benchmark results Geekbench show that the Intel ARC A350M can reach the same frequencies in the OpenCL test. However, the clock rate applies to the boost clock, while the base clock of the A350M is 1150 MHz. So there’s a pretty big discrepancy between the average peak and maximum peak clock speeds that GPUs can achieve. Intel’s Tom Peterson revealed in an interview with PCWorld that they treat the GPU clock close to NVIDIA’s boost clock, but not the peak clock. This is the most limited boost clock the GPU can achieve on average, so peak clocks should be much higher.
The reason for the speculation that the ARC A780 desktop GPU was accidental (or intended to spark interest) is that the GPU’s power rating is 175W, which is relatively high for a mobile GPU variant. The ARC A770M can reach 150W of GPU power, but Intel’s Deep Link technology, which allows the CPU’s idle power to be used in the GPU, could result in the power being higher with help. This type of performance boost is similar to NVIDIA’s Dynamic Boost.
There are further speculation that we only see GPU power, and with the help of additional computer components, the graphics card could reach 200W power. However, since it is not known whether memory is accounted for in the possible leaked values of GPU performance, the only information anyone can reach for the hypothesis is the disclosed values for the SOC1 GPU, also known as ACM-G10, for desktop systems .
The VRAM clock of the leaked GPU is 1093MHz and it could also tell us that the effective speed could reach 17.5Gbps, which is higher than any mobile GPU. The fastest mobile GPU only reached 16 Gbps. And since mobile GPUs aren’t typically used for overclocking purposes, we could assume that the leaked ARC desktop GPU would run at an effective speed of 14Gbps, equal to or faster than NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card.
